Year 1 spent the day at Axe Valley Wildlife Park. This was a fantastic opportunity to round off our topic – The Animal Kingdom and we were extremely lucky to have the park completely to ourselves.

The children had a handling session where they were shown a millipede, a snake, a stick insect, an armadillo and a tarantula! Many of the children were quite nervous at first, but by the end of this session they discovered some new found confidence and held most, if not all of the animals! Even the tarantula!

After the handling session, the children ventured off with their leaders around the park to complete a quiz about animals and their habitats. The children were able to see many more animals – favourites being the baby wallabies in Mum’s pouch and the brand newborn twin lemurs!

All in all it was a hot, but fantastic day! See the photos below…
