2. Finance & Compliance Officer

Ottery St Mary Primary School is seeking to employ a Finance and Compliance Officer.
Salary range: NJC Grade F, Scale Points 24-28 (£36,024 – £36,648)

The role is being offered on the basis of 35 hours per week, term time only. The Pro Rata salary range will therefore be £26,827 to £29,816

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new role which encompasses all aspects of the financial running of the school as well as Health and Safety management and compliance. While a comprehensive job description and person specification is available in the application pack, the main duties and responsibilities will centre on the following areas:

Finance:

  • Model budget scenarios based on agreed school priorities
  • Setting, monitoring and reporting on budgets in line with school requirements
  • Provide day to day accounting procedures and recording of all financial transactions accurately in financial software packages, specifically:
  • Ensuring the systems for placing purchase orders and approvals are working effectively and liaising with staff or system suppliers where issues exist.
  • Overseeing and ensuring statements are checked and copy invoices requested when needed.
  • Dealing with invoices and credit notes as appropriate
  • Investigate potential income streams for the school and report on these to the Headteacher.
  • Ensuring the schools finance policy is being delivered and met through the appropriate use of systems of internal control.
  • Managing the use of the schools procurement card and ensuring that its use is reflected in the schools accounts
  • Liaise with auditors as and when required

Premises, Health and Safety:

  • Ensure that the school is compliant with the requirements of the Risk Protection Arrangements and the Local Authority
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the school
  • Liaise with the Local Authority to facilitate audits and implement any agreed recommendations
  • Monitor the Health and Safety procedures and reporting system in use in the school, and report any issues of concern to the Headteacher
  • Assist in all fire/safety evacuation procedures and tests

The post is being advertised at 35 hours per week which can be organised flexibly. Training can be provided and the postholder will be expected to attend relevant training to support them in the role.

3. Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Key Stage 2 (Year 3) Temporary until July 2024 in the first instance required from February half term 2024 to cover maternity leave. The post is being advertised on M1 to M6 of the Main Teacher Payscale (£30,000 – £41,333) on a full-time basis.

Ottery St Mary Primary School requires an enthusiastic and creative teacher in KS2 (Year 3)

Candidates will:

– Be innovative classroom practitioners with high standards of planning, delivery and assessment.
– Be able to build a strong rapport with children and have a clear understanding of how children learn.
– Be committed to achieving high standards across the school.
– Have skills to develop into effectively leading a curriculum area – please identify your strengths
