Year 5 have been busy investigating and exploring materials and their properties.

As part of their science work so far this year, all of the year 5 children have been busy designing, and experimenting with different variables. Their challenge? To test the solubility of five different materials and report on their findings. The children have conducted two different types of experiments, one to test solubility and the second to see whether the warmth of the water affects results. Results were interesting for all manner of reasons!!!

 

 

 

 

The children have managed to uncover the notion of variables and fair testing as well as working effectively as a team!! The scientific writing was of an exceptionally high standard and showcased an increasing understanding of the scientific process.
