Dove Day in Year 1

In Year 1, we spent the day thinking about the symbol of the dove at Christmas. We looked at several images made by Picasso of doves and did some drawings of our own.

We experimented with making shadows of doves using our hands and bodies, linking in with our science questions about light and light sources.

This provided inspiration for our Design and Technology project: to make a puppet with moving parts to hang at home  to remind us of the message of peace. The children used templates to draw and cut the parts themselves as well as decorating and assembling with string and masking tape.

All the puppets were very special and unique!
