Latest curriculum newsletter for Autumn 2018

Our teachers are Mrs Penney, Miss Purcell and Miss Fitzpatrick. We also have three wonderful teaching assistants; Mrs Lewis, Mrs Bull and Mrs Cartwright.
We do lots of fantastic learning in Year 1 and try really hard with our work!

As we enter Year 1, we transition from play-based learning to a more formal approach. We try our best to do this as smoothly as possible and ensure we still make learning fun!
In maths we learn using lots of resources to help us and in English we carefully choose texts that inspire and support the children’s learning.
We have a lovely outside area which the children… and the adults love!
In science, the children learn about plants, everyday materials, seasons and animals. To enhance the children’s learning we learn with hands-on approach wherever possible.
As part of our learning in topic, we use the local environment as much as we can and we love going on trips as we feel this is important to enhance the children’s learning.
The highlight of the year is our Christmas play. This is where the children really get to shine as they show of their fantastic acting skills and gain buckets of confidence!
