Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Our team consists of Teachers Mrs North, Mr Rogers, Miss Salter and Mrs Brealy ably assisted by Teaching Assistants Mrs Myer, Mrs Heard and Ms Squance.
Year 4 is an exciting time for the children, as they are now well immersed into KS2 life. There are lots more opportunities for learning through a wide range of different topics previously unexplored. Topics include; World War 2, London and The Vikings. In addition to this, we also investigate different science themes such as Electricity, Sound, Habitats and Animals.
Our creative Art and Design projects often link closely to the topics that we are studying throughout the year and children are encouraged to offer their imaginative ideas to extend their understanding and develop their ability to work as a team.
Over the last 3 years, we have been fortunate enough to take part in a project run by the Devon Wildlife Trust at Seaton Jurassic. This year, the focus is on protecting marine life and within this, we have selected to research and discuss the hazards encountered by dolphins and the part that we can play in helping to protect both dolphins and their marine habitats.
We hope that your child will enjoy the year and gain a lot of valuable skills and knowledge that they can take forwards throughout their school life and into the wider community.

Mathletics is an online maths resource that all our children are encouraged to use from Year 1 to Year 6. Mathletics switches kids on to maths. It’s engaging, supportive and targeted to the various National Curricula of the UK.
